HEALTH LITERACY SURVEY

WHAT IS A HEALTH LITERACY SURVEY?

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, health literacy is ‘’the capacity that an individual has to access and effectively use health-related information, in order to promote and maintain good health’’. It is the patient’s ability to obtain, communicate, process and understand basic health information and services to make appropriate health decisions.

Low Health Literacy is linked to a greater use of hospital services, less treatment compliance, and higher mortality rates.
